iOS Users Are Being Forced To Pay More Than Android Owners For The Same Products On Zepto?
The pricing gap between Apple and Android users is frequently attributed to differences in perceived user demographics.
Around two months back, a controversy erupted that e-commerce companies such as Flipkart were charging iOS owners more for the same products when compared to Android owners. Now it seems like a quick commerce brand, Zomato has joined the list. A Bengaluru woman has revealed price disparity between iPhone and Android users on Zepto. As per the information shared, Zepto charges significantly higher prices to iOS users than Android users for the exact same product.
Instagram user Pooja Chhabda, in an example of this situation, showcased that for 500 grams of grapes, Zepto charges Rs 65 to Android users, whereas the same item costs Rs 146 (more than double) to iOS users. She then showed that capsicum was listed at Rs 37 on Zepto when viewed from an Android device, but when she viewed the same item on her iPhone then the cost went up to Rs 69.

Chhabda was taken aback by this huge difference and urged her followers to check for themselves whether they are also paying higher prices on Zepto just because of owning an iPhone or not.
The pricing gap between Apple and Android users is frequently attributed to differences in perceived user demographics. E-commerce platforms often reportedly operate under the assumption that iPhone users possess greater disposable income and are therefore more likely to accept higher price points.
Netizens React
Netizens while reacting to this expressed their sentiments in the comments. A user wrote, "Guess everything and anything is expensive for iPhone users. Status comes at a cost."
Another user wrote, "I think the logic is when you can pay so much extra for the same features that are available on some Androids then you must be willing to pay extra for everything."
A third user wrote, "It's not an iPhone vs Android but cheap phones vs premium phones. You will see the differences not just in prices, but also availability, delivery times, etc."
