Now You Can Chat With Perplexity AI Right Inside WhatsApp – Here’s What It Can (And Can’t) Do

Unlike most AI tools that ask for an account or some onboarding process, Perplexity's WhatsApp version is refreshingly frictionless.

Perplexity AI, the conversational search engine making waves for its quick answers and internet-powered results, just made itself even more accessible — this time through WhatsApp. You don’t need an account, there’s no setup required, and yes, you can even send voice notes. Just text or talk, and Perplexity replies.

Here’s everything you need to know about its new WhatsApp integration.

How To Start Chatting With Perplexity

Unlike most AI tools that ask for an account or some onboarding process, Perplexity's WhatsApp version is refreshingly frictionless. Users can simply begin a chat by messaging +1 (833) 436-3285 on WhatsApp. No Perplexity login is needed, and at present, there's no option to link an existing Perplexity account — which might be great for privacy, but it also means your chats won’t sync across devices.

While this simplicity is a win, don’t expect the full suite of features available in the official app.

Fast Replies, But Keep It Brief

Once you're chatting, Perplexity responds in seconds. Its messages are concise — a few lines at most — which works well for casual questions but may fall short for deep research or long-form content. “Perplexity’s WhatsApp replies are quite fast, but they are short and to the point,” the company notes. So if you're planning to ask philosophical questions or get long reads, you may want to switch to the app or another platform.

It supports voice inputs too. You can record a question as a voice note, and the AI will transcribe it and respond in text, making the experience feel more like messaging a friend than querying a search engine.

Image Generation and Fact-Checking On the Go

One standout feature of Perplexity's WhatsApp integration is its ability to handle images. You can ask it to generate pictures or even modify an existing one — including humorous requests like turning someone bald. Unlike ChatGPT, which sends image links, Perplexity shares visuals directly in the chat. This makes them easy to save, view, or forward.

Perplexity also brings its internet-aware smarts to the table. If you receive a questionable forwarded message (we're looking at you, Uncle Raj), you can forward it to the bot for a quick fact-check. “Perplexity can also accept forwarded messages as input, so you can use Perplexity AI to fact-check that weird forward from your uncle that you already know is a scam,” the company adds.

Best For Quick Questions, Not Deep Dives

There’s no Deep Research tool or long-form summarisation here — just quick answers. Perplexity’s WhatsApp version excels at speed and convenience, but it’s not built for extensive research. If you're looking for in-depth responses, the regular Perplexity app or desktop version remains your best bet.

Still, as a pocket assistant for quick searches, fact-checking, and even generating on-the-fly images, Perplexity on WhatsApp is a clever and user-friendly move — no downloads, no fuss, just straight answers.
