WhatsApp New Feature: Users Will Soon Be Able To Chat With Meta AI Directly From Search Bar

Users can start conversations with the chat and improve AI-based assistance in the app by choosing a query in the Meta AI subset or selecting suggested prompts.

Meta's WhatsApp frequently garners attention for its continuous rollout of new features within the application. Following the recent revelation about the platform testing AI-powered image editing capabilities, Meta is now in the process of developing a feature that will allow users to ask questions directly to Meta AI. As reported by WABetaInfo, this option is expected to be included in an upcoming version of the app. However, as the feature is still in the development phase, it has not been made available to beta testers yet.

The report mentions that this option was identified in the Android beta version "2.24.7.14".

The new 'Ask Meta AI' feature is anticipated to enable users to input queries directly into the WhatsApp search bar and receive responses from Meta's AI tool. According to the details shared in the report, after entering a query like 'What is WABetaInfo', users may see an option to direct their query to Meta AI.

Additionally, the screenshot included in the report displays other pre-defined prompts such as 'Jokes about birds', 'Fire dancing videos', 'Imagine a robot boss', and more. This functionality of entering queries in the search bar could eliminate the need to manually start a conversation with Meta AI.

By selecting a query in the Meta AI subset or opting for one of the suggested prompts, users can initiate discussions with the chat and enhance the AI-based assistance within the app. This new tool not only saves time but also improves the overall convenience and accessibility of utilising Meta AI for information, assistance, and various tasks.

WhatsApp May Let You Transcribe Voice Notes Soon

This feature leverages smartphone speech recognition tools to process voice notes directly on the device. The resulting text will appear in the chat window, providing a convenient option when audio playback isn't feasible. This upcoming feature on WhatsApp could improve accessibility for users with hearing impairments.

WABetaInfo discovered this functionality in the beta version of WhatsApp for Android version 2.24.7.8.
