Voter ID Card: Follow These Easy Steps To Change Address On Voter ID Sitting At Home

Voter ID Card Update: If you have recently moved to a new city and want to register as a voter there, you have to update your voter ID card with the new address.

Voter ID Card Address Update: A Voter ID card contains information about the voter including the address and the nominated constituency of the cardholder. An eligible voter is allowed to cast their vote only from the registered constituency.

So, if one has recently moved to a new city and wants to register themselves as a voter there to vote, the voter ID needs to be updated. There should be a new address to make sure that the voter’s name is added to the voters’ list.

These Steps Can Be Followed To Update The Voter ID

  • To do this, an online request on the National Voter Service Portal needs to be made.
  • First, one has to visit the official website,  https://www.nvsp.in/ to fill in the application form. If there is not an account already, click the Register Now button at the bottom of the login screen.
  • After logging in, click on the 'Migration to Other Place' option to change the address on the voter ID card. Now select the section in which the changes are needed.
  • To change the address on the voter ID card, select the 'Self' option, otherwise select Family.
  • Select whether the change is applicable within the previous constituency or outside that.
  • It will open Form 6. Here, fill in the current status, address, constituency, and other details.  One has to fill in some personal information as well including postal address, permanent address, etc.
  • Once everything is filled, upload a photo with address and age proof.
  • Fill in the self-declaration at the end of Form 6, enter the captcha and submit the request.

After the request is submitted, there will be a confirmation before the changes are made. After the confirmation, a new voter ID will be sent at the current address.
