Elon Musk Replaced X's Like Button With A Ballot Box Amid US Elections? Here's What We Know

There has been no official confirmation of any modifications to X’s like button.

As the race for the White House heats up, social media users are buzzing about a new change on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter. Many users claim that Elon Musk, head of X, has introduced a unique twist to the familiar "like" button in light of the 2024 US presidential elections. Viral videos circulating on the platform demonstrate a surprising animation: when the like button is pressed, it briefly transforms into a ballot box, adding an election-themed flair to interactions.

A comment read, "I thought it was a lie, but come on it's real. Elon Musk has changed the like button for the United States Elections." Another user wrote, "OMG!! Elon Musk changed the Like Button for real to Support Trump."

The claims rapidly gained traction across social media, with hundreds of thousands engaging with the posts. However, there has been no official confirmation of any modifications to X’s like button. Many users noted that they hadn’t observed any animation changes and speculated that the viral claims might simply be tactics to boost post engagement.

Similar assertions arose on October 31, when some users shared an image of a pumpkin animation, suggesting the like button on X had been temporarily transformed into a smiling pumpkin for Halloween. Whether these changes were actually implemented for the holiday remains uncertain.

US Presidential Elections Race For The Win

In the high-stakes 2024 US Presidential election, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are locked in an exceptionally close race. Voting kicked off today, with many calling it one of the tightest elections in American history. With such a narrow margin expected, definitive results may take a few days to finalize.

Elon Musk, the owner of X, has publicly backed Republican candidate Donald Trump, who is aiming to regain the presidency after his 2020 defeat by Joe Biden. Musk has also become increasingly critical of Trump's opponent, Kamala Harris, going so far as to claim that, should she win, X could face closure and he himself could be imprisoned.
