Twitter Is Doing Away With Dim Mode, Dark Mode To Be Default: Elon Musk

Twitter which recently rebranded to "X" will now support dark mode and light mode and the former would be made the default option.

Twitter which recently rebranded to "X" will now support dark mode and light mode and the former would be made the default option. Twitter has undergone a number of changes since tech billionaire Elon Musk's takeover. Musk has been known for posting a lot from his personal Twitter handle, or X handle and recently, he posted that the micro-blogging site would “soon only have dark mode” as “it is better in every way.” However, Musk later confirmed that Twitter is doing away with "dim mode" and that only dark and light modes would remain.

"A lot of people have asked to keep light mode, so we will, but the default will be dark and dim will be deleted," Musk posted on Friday.

However, many Twitter handles with Blue Tick did not like the idea and said the dim mode should not go. A user named Greg wrote: "Please don’t get rid of dim 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏."

Another user with the blue checkmark named Sawyer Merrit posted: "I use dim every night 😭."

Several users wrote that light text on black can be difficult to read and wasn't good for the eyes.

Earlier this week, Musk, along with Twitter's CEO Linda Yaccarino, unveiled a new logo for the micro-blogging platform. The logo featured a white "X" on a black background, replacing the long-familiar and iconic blue bird symbol that had represented Twitter for the past 17 years. Yaccarino shared the news on her Twitter account, declaring, "X is here! Let's do this," and posted an image of the logo projected on Twitter's San Francisco offices.

Musk had teased the logo change a day prior, asking his millions of followers whether they preferred changing Twitter's color scheme from blue to black. He shared a stylized "X" against a black outer space-themed background and mentioned an "interim X logo," indicating the eventual phase-out of the Twitter brand.

In response to a question about what tweets would be called under "X," Musk simply replied, "x's."
