Telegram Is Full Of Red Flags? Here's What The Chief Revealed Which Has Left Netizens Worried

Telegram is that it is known to be less secure by default because the end-to-end encryption will not work at all until and unless you enable the feature.

Instant messaging platform Telegram has made some big claims in the past few years about its security standards and that the messages of its users are safe and secure on the platform. Recently, Telegram chief Pavel Durov raised some serious concerns about the platform and how it is handling such a high traffic of messages. Earlier in an interview, Durov talked about how Telegram is being run with a skeletal team of engineers and his role at the company.

During the interaction, he revealed that he is the only product manager at Telegram and the company only has about 30 engineers employed to run it at such a scale.

Telegram's Full Of Red Flags?

When a report by TechCrunch carried this information out Telegram reacted to it by saying that it has another 30 developers who are part of the core team. Now the part which is worrying Telegram users is that they have no clue about who is a part of the core team and who isn't. Furthermore, they don't even know if it has a chief security officer to oversee the major functioning of the messaging platform.

Telegram is no longer just a messaging app. It now allows you to share large-size files, we have also seen movies being downloaded through it. In simpler words, it is now a social media app, which houses data of its claimed 1 billion user base.

Just 60 engineers to manage all that without really defining their roles publicly is a major hazard. Another red flag about Telegram is that it is known to be less secure by default because the end-to-end encryption will not work at all until and unless you enable the feature. This is not the case with WhatsApp and Signal though as the standards there are working from day one without giving users the choice to enable or disable it.

These revelations from Durov in a way work against the platform further, as more people might feel like switching to safer platforms.
