There Is No Legal Basis For This: Elon Musk On Starlink Being Forced To Block Access To X In Brazil

Elon Musk said, "There is no legal basis for this whatsoever. Starlink is a different company with different shareholders. Moraes, cannot even cite a law that Starlink has broken!"

Brazil has been putting X under a lot of heat recently with its Supreme Court ordering a ban on the microblogging platform in the nation. As per reports, Justice Alexandre de Moraes not only ordered the ban on X but also ordered to freeze the bank accounts, car and aircraft of, Starlink, which is also owned by Elon Musk. Apparently this was done to prevent Starlink from covering for any fines imposed on X. Elon Musk, while reacting to this, wrote that there is no legal basis for this action.

He took to X (formerly Twitter) to say, "There is no legal basis for this whatsoever. Starlink is a different company with different shareholders. Moraes, the charlatan in judges robes, cannot even cite a law that Starlink has broken!"

Starlink Blocks Access To X In Brazil

Justice Alexandre de Moraes has imposed a nationwide ban on X due to its failure to comply with local regulations. This decision was confirmed by the top court on Monday, September 2, with support from President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. In his ruling, Justice de Moraes directed all internet service providers in Brazil to block access to X and ordered Apple and Google to remove the X app from their app stores within five days.

Starlink, which serves more than 250,000 customers in Brazil, was warned that its operating license could be revoked if it did not follow the Supreme Court’s orders, according to a report by Reuters. Initially, Starlink pushed back against the order issued by Brazil’s Supreme Court to block X in the nation, but, now it has to comply. Starlink said, “Regardless of the illegal treatment of Starlink in freezing of our assets, we are complying with the order to block access to X in Brazil.”
