Reddit Outage: Services Resume After An Hour Of Down Time

Users reported seeing the “no healthy upstream” error on their PC when they attempted to access Reddit.

Thousands of Redditors were not able to use their beloved platform today as the app witnessed an outage that lasted around an hour. The services have been resumed now, though. Reddit has not yet officially acknowledged what caused the outage, but now it is accessible on both web as well as the app. Notably, this is the second outage that Reddit has suffered in the past three months. 

Users from across the globe were reportedly not able to access Reddit on their PCs. Users reported seeing the “no healthy upstream” error on their PC when they attempted to access Reddit.

As per reports in various publications, some users also noticed the error message that read, “Upstream connect error or disconnect/reset before headers. reset reason: connection failure.” Some users also read this message on their screens- “Our CDN was unable to reach our servers.”

Netizens Switch Platform To Vent Out

DownDetector recorded more than 200 reports of Reddit experiencing outages, leading numerous users to voice their concerns on other social media platforms, including Facebook and X (formerly known as Twitter). Frustrated by the interruption, users turned to these alternatives to share their issues and seek answers. Despite the reports of the outage, Reddit's official status page, redditstatus.com, indicated that "all systems are operational," suggesting that the platform itself was unaware of any widespread issues at the time.

This isn't the first time Reddit has encountered such disruptions in recent months. Similar outages were reported in both August and September of 2024. In those instances, Reddit acknowledged the problem and categorized it as "degraded performance." The company was quick to resolve the technical difficulties on both occasions, minimizing the impact on users and restoring full functionality in a short time.
