New Delhi: Sending voice messages on the world's most popular messaging app WhatsApp may not be my thing, but it is quite popular among users and so much so that an average of 7 billion people send voice messages on WhatsApp every day. The voice messages on WhatsApp are end-to-end encrypted.
"Every day on WhatsApp, our users send 7 billion voice messages on average, all of which are protected by end-to-end encryption to keep them private and secure at all times," the Meta-owned company announced late on Wednesday.
Meta (formerly Facebook) owned WhatsApp had introduced the ability to send voice messages on the app in August 2013 and since then, the adoption of the feature has grown exponentially. "Voice messages have made it quick and easy for people to have more expressive conversations. Showing emotion or excitement through voice is more natural than text, and in many situations, voice messages are the preferred form of communication on WhatsApp," the messaging platform added.
WhatsApp is the world's most popular messaging platform and it is used by more than 2 billion or 200 crore people to send more than 100 billion messages every day. "It’s (voice messages) simple for anyone to use -- for your family members who prefer to avoid typing, for your friends who love to tell stories, for your peers who need encouraging words, or for when you want to hear your partner's voice at the end of a long day," WhatsApp added.
Meanwhile, the Meta-owned company is working to introduce a feature that will let users manually change the app's language. The feature will essentially work by letting the user manually override the system default, according to WhatsApp beta tracker, WABetaInfo.
