Moto 360 Reboot: Premium Smartwatch Design Leaked, But Will It Run Wear OS 6? What We Know So Far

Since its inception, every Moto 360 has operated on Google’s Wear OS platform. It seems likely that the 2025 reboot will continue with Wear OS.

Motorola appears to be preparing a return to the smartwatch market with its classic Moto 360. New leaked renders hint at a 2025 model featuring a sophisticated stainless-steel design. While the hardware clearly channels a premium aesthetic, one lingering question is whether the device will continue to run on Wear OS, perhaps the upcoming Wear OS 6.

A Premium Revival

The leaked images, via Android Headlines, reveal a polished metal case, a central rotating crown, and an extra button on the right-hand side. The matching metal bracelets suggest a more elegant and mature design direction. This visual upgrade stands in stark contrast to earlier models that favoured rubber or silicone straps.

Motorola’s history with the round-faced Moto 360 dates back to 2014, when the device launched as one of the first Android Wear smartwatches. A second‑generation model followed in 2015, before Motorola licensed the brand to a third party, which brought out a 2019 version. After that, the Moto 360 range fell silent, until now.

Five Colours In The Pipeline

Though only one colour appears in the renders so far, the leak indicates Motorola plans to offer five distinct colour options. If true, that variety should give consumers more ways to pick a style that suits them, whether they prefer understated metal tones or something a little bolder.

Wear OS Or Something Else?

Since its inception, every Moto 360 has operated on Google’s Wear OS platform. It seems likely that the 2025 reboot will continue with Wear OS, with rumours pointing to Wear OS 6. Still, Motorola has not confirmed that detail.

That uncertainty leaves room for speculation about whether this smartwatch will match the refinements and app support found in rival wearables.

The Competition Awaits

The smartwatch scene has evolved significantly since the Moto 360 last appeared. Now, rivals such as Google’s Pixel Watch and Samsung’s Galaxy Watch line dominate the space. Motorola will need to bring quality hardware and seamless software integration to stand out, especially if the device runs Wear OS.
