Meta’s Ray-Ban Smart Glasses Set To Debut In India — With A Sleek New Look & Smarter AI

Originally launched in September 2023, the Ray-Ban Meta glasses are the upgraded successors to the Ray-Ban Stories.

Meta’s futuristic eyewear is finally heading to Indian shores. The tech giant confirmed on April 23 that its AI-powered Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses will soon be available in India — though it stopped short of announcing a launch date.

Smart, Stylish, and Totally Hands-Free

These next-gen glasses, which combine Meta’s AI smarts with Ray-Ban’s iconic design, are engineered for users on the move. Whether you're capturing life’s spontaneous moments, getting real-time answers, or simply streaming music, these glasses promise a completely hands-free experience.

“These stylish glasses offer everyday wearability and help you be more present with friends, family, and the world around you by letting you capture a moment or listen to music, while your phone stays in your pocket,” Meta said in a statement.

Originally launched in September 2023, the Ray-Ban Meta glasses are the upgraded successors to the Ray-Ban Stories, first unveiled in collaboration with EssilorLuxottica. The global rollout now includes markets like Mexico and the United Arab Emirates, alongside India.

AI That Sees and Speaks Your Language

One of the standout features is Meta AI’s vision capability, which enables the glasses to interpret what the wearer is looking at and respond with relevant information in real time.

“We’re also expanding access to Meta AI on Ray-Ban Meta glasses in even more countries in the EU today, and starting next week, we’ll be rolling out the ability for you to ask Meta AI about the things you’re looking at and get real-time responses to all our supported countries in the EU,” the company noted.

Another major software update is the global rollout of the live translation feature. Once users download the relevant language pack, the glasses can translate conversations in real time — even offline — across English, French, Italian, and Spanish. This is aimed at enhancing conversations and breaking down language barriers on the go.

New Looks and More Music Control

On the style front, Meta is introducing a new Skyler Shiny Chalky Gray variant with Transitions Sapphire lenses, expanding options for users who want both tech and flair.

The smart glasses are also becoming more social and more musical. Soon, users will be able to send and receive Instagram messages, photos, and even audio/video calls directly from the glasses.

“You’ll also soon be able to send and receive direct messages, photos, audio calls, and video calls from Instagram on your glasses,” the company said.

Meta is also broadening access to its AI-powered music features, allowing users outside the US and Canada to ask Meta AI to play tracks via Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and Shazam — or even identify what song is currently playing.

As Meta continues to refine its wearable tech, the India launch marks a significant expansion — offering local users a glimpse into a hands-free, AI-powered future that looks just as good as it performs.
