In an attempt to make it easier to save links, notes and reminders, Meta-owned WhatsApp is working to introduce a feature that will let users message themselves more easily. The world's most popular messaging platform is running a test by rolling out "messages with yourself" to a select group of beta WhatsApp testers, according to WABetaInfo.
According to WABetaInfo, with the new 2.22.24.2 beta version of WhatsApp for Android, the beta testers can try "Message yourself" feature.
"Since some of you wondered what the changes are when sending messages to your own phone number after the update, this is the answer: nothing. WhatsApp is only highlighting the chat with your own phone number by using a different caption. We also would like to take advantage of this article to announce that some beta testers may also notice a better synchronization of messages within the chat with their own phone number since sometime: if you send a message to the chat with your phone number, it will be always synced with your other linked devices since it is no longer an unsupported feature when using multi-device," WABetaInfo wrote on its web page.
Also, within the Android app, the chat with your phone number will also be available within your contacts list on the platform so that becomes easier for you to reach your own chat if you don’t have one in the chats list.
Meanwhile, as per WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is likely to get a new privacy feature in which the Meta-owned company would block the ability to take screenshots of media files such as photos and videos which are shared as "View Once". To recall, earlier in August, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg had announced on Facebook three new privacy features that would have been released for users, including online status, past participants and screenshot blocking.
