Google Meet Will Now Let You Seamlessly Switch Devices During Calls Without Having To Hang Up

This functionality is cross-platform, facilitating the transfer of calls across various operating systems such as PC, iOS, and Android.

Tired of switching devices between Google Meet calls by hanging up on one after the other device? Google might have a solution to make your lives easier now. Google Meet has introduced a new feature which allows users to seamlessly transfer calls between devices. Google Workspace made this announcement in a blog where it said that the feature enables transitions from one device to another during Meet calls.

It doesn't matter now if you are initiating the call from your smartphone or laptop, you will easily be able to switch to a different device during the call with just a single tap. As per Google, this update provides users with flexibility in their communication methods within Meet.

How Will The New Feature Work

This newest addition allows users to seamlessly transition a Meet call between their mobile device and laptop, or vice versa. When you are on a call, you will spot a new "Switch here" icon, enabling you to transfer the call to another device without ending the conversation abruptly before connecting from another device.

This functionality is cross-platform, facilitating the transfer of calls across various operating systems such as PC, iOS, and Android. When you are initiating a device switch then the ongoing call will seamlessly move to the new device and after the shift, the connection on the previous one will end.

Enhancing Flexibility

For the ones who prefer to keep the meeting active simultaneously on both devices, Google Meet offers an option called "Other joining options." This feature will allow them to join the same ongoing meeting on two devices simultaneously. This has been done to provide flexibility and control over the call experience.

The release of this feature began today for users on the Rapid Release track. It is expected to become available to everyone over the coming weeks. In order to take advantage of this innovative capability, users are encouraged to update their Meet app on their preferred mobile device and prepare to experience the future of communication on Meet.
