WhatsApp May Bring Picture-In-Picture Mode For Video Calls Soon. Know Everything

Picture-in-Picture is a feature in which users will be able to simultaneously continue video calls and also operate other apps on their phone.

WhatsApp is rolling out a picture-in-picture (PiP) mode for video calls to some lucky Apple iPhone users. Users that download the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 22.24.0.79 version update from the TestFlight app may get the PiP mode for WhatsApp video calls, according to WABetaInfo.

Picture-in-Picture or PiP is a feature in which users will be able to make video calls and simultaneously also operate other apps on their phone. The feature has been available for Android smartphone users for a while now. A screenshot shared by WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo showed how a user should test the new feature if they get the update. The WABetaInfo report also added that since the new update uses official iOS APIs, users can also temporarily hide the video call view if they want. The Picture-in-Picture mode will soon be rolled out for more users.

Last week, WhatsApp launched a new feature called Message Yourself. The Meta-owned company said that the message yourself is a 1:1 chat feature with yourself to send notes, reminders, and updates as needed. Users can keep track of their to-dos, send themselves notes, reminders, shopping lists, and so on WhatsApp.

The company is also planning to soon roll out the screen lock feature for WhatsApp Web client. WhatsApp is testing a new feature that will let users protect the desktop app by setting up a password. Three years ago, WhatsApp released a screen lock feature on WhatsApp beta for Android and iOS. This feature essentially lets users on iOS and Android devices have an additional layer of security for WhatsApp and can protect access to the app from unauthorised access when they don’t use their device.

Meta-owned WhatsApp is the world's most popular messaging platform and it has more than 2 billion users globally.
