Apple Releases Crucial Firmware Update For AirPods, AirPods Pro & AirPods Pro Max & Others

Spoofing devices is a significant concern, particularly because AirPods and other wireless devices have a long range, making it easier for malicious actors to target them.

Apple has released a firmware update for the Apple AirPods and Apple AirPods Pro along with a release note according to which the device had some issues which needed to be fixed. Apple has claimed that the issue with AirPods was so severe that hackers could access your wireless earphones if they are in the Bluetooth range with your AirPods, AirPods Pro or even the AirPods Max headphones.

As per the release note shared by the iPhone maker regarding the AirPods firmware update 6A326 and 6F8, the impact that AirPods users might have to face if they don’t update it to the latest version can be quite severe. Apple emphasised, “When your headphones are seeking a connection request to one of your previously paired devices, an attacker in Bluetooth range might be able to spoof the intended source device and gain access to your headphones.”

Spoofing devices is a significant concern, particularly because AirPods and other wireless devices have a long range, making it easier for malicious actors to target them. Installing the firmware is crucial to avoid these risks, as connecting a Bluetooth headset to your iPhone can potentially expose you to further attacks.
