Facebook Rolls Out New 'Soundmojis'; Users Can Now Send Emojis With Sound On Messenger App
Soundmojis are the next-level emojis that enable you to share brief sound recordings in a Messenger chat. They are defined as "emojis that could talk."
New Delhi: Taking advantage of the increasing participation of people in social interactive sites because of Covid-induced social distancing, Facebook Messenger on Friday announced that it is rolling out Soundmojis, or emojis with sound effects, to enrich communication among people ahead of World Emoji Day on July 17.
Soundmojis are the next-level emojis that enable you to share brief sound recordings in a Messenger chat, according to the messaging platform. They are defined as "emojis that could talk."
These sounds can range from applauding, crickets, drumrolls, and evil laughing to audio snippets from your favourite artists like Rebecca Black and TV shows and movies like F9 from Universal Pictures, NBC and Brooklyn Nine-Nine from Universal Television, Netflix and Shondaland’s Bridgerton.
"We’re launching an entire Soundmoji library for you to choose from, which we’ll update regularly with new sound effects and famous sound bites. Each sound is represented by an emoji, keeping the visual emojis we all love in play while bringing sound into the mix," stated Facebook.
Facebook Messenger introduced the Quick reply bar feature last month, which allows users to answer messages instantaneously rather than having to open the photo or video first. This makes it quicker for users to respond to media shared by friends and family.

Users can utilise this function to respond quickly to a photo or video by just pressing on it or clicking on the quick reply bar at the bottom of the screen. They can swipe up to close the full-screen media viewer and return to the main conversation thread.
When the cross-messaging functionality went live in October of last year, Instagram users got the quick reply box for individual messages and chat themes features. Colourful chats, replies with any emoji, swiping to reply to specific messages, and sharing videos with more friends without needing to download the app were among the new features added in the update.
