Did You Know Google Has A Secret Diwali Game? Here's How You Can Interact With Digital Diyas

While Google frequently celebrates Diwali, this interactive diya feature offers a more immersive, personal experience, inviting users to engage directly with a cherished part of the holiday.

Diwali 2024: As the 'Festival of Lights' brings together communities worldwide on October 31, Google has embraced the spirit of the Festival of Lights by introducing a unique interactive experience for users. Known for marking major events and festivities with creative Doodles on its search page, this year, Google decided to do something different for Diwali. The search giant rolled out a feature that enables users to light up virtual diyas (earthen lamps) on their screens, creating a digital version of one of Diwali’s most cherished traditions.

Google's Secret Diwali Game: How To Access

This Diwali feature adds a fresh interactive element to Google's offerings. Accessing it is simple, requiring only a quick search for “Diwali” on Google.com. Here’s how users can participate:

  • Visit Google’s Homepage: Start by heading to Google.com.
  • Search “Diwali”: In the search bar, type Diwali to trigger the special feature.
  • Click the Diya Icon: After searching, a shimmering diya icon appears just below the search bar, enticing users to click.
  • Light Up the Diyas: Once clicked, the screen dims slightly, and eight unlit diyas appear. Users’ cursors transform into a lit diya that they can move across the screen to ignite each diya individually.
  • Enjoy the Light Show: As each diya lights up, stars twinkle across the screen, and the space gradually brightens with a warm, festive glow.
  • Repeat the Experience: For those who wish to relive the moment, simply click the diya icon again to start over.

While Google frequently celebrates Diwali, this interactive diya feature offers a more immersive, personal experience, inviting users to engage directly with a cherished part of the holiday. The lighting of diyas during Diwali symbolises the triumph of light over darkness, and Google’s virtual diyas bring this symbolism to life, allowing people around the world to partake in the ritual in a fun and engaging way.

This interactive experience marks a shift from Google’s usual Doodles, providing a mini-celebration that users can control and explore. It's a thoughtful touch that adds an extra layer of warmth and festivity for users, bringing a bit of Diwali magic to their digital day.
