Google Chrome Version 100 Is Here With New Icon, Almost 14 Years After Initial Release

Google Chrome's logo is getting a refreshed design along with several bug fixes in the new Google Chrome version 100.

New Delhi: Google Chrome's logo is getting a refreshed design along with several bug fixes in the new Google Chrome version 100. It is almost 14 years ago that the Google Chrome logo got the "clean design" and all-encompassing “omnibox” design. Now, after more than a decade, Google is rolling out Chrome version 100 update on stable channels now across Windows, Linux, Mac, Android as well as iOS.

For most of its history, the search giant's browser has gained a new version number roughly every six weeks, but last year the company switched to a four-week cycle to deliver new features more quickly, according to a report published in The Verge.

The search engine giant aims to have a minimal interface compared to other browsers of that era with the “Chrome”. There’s still just one “Omnibox” for entering URLs and making web searches with navigation controls and other buttons to the left/right of the field, while tabs appear at the top, according to 9to5Google.

The tech giant has also pulled the plug on the Google Lite mode for Chrome on Android with this update and also introduced several bug fixes.

"On March 29th, 2022, with the release of Chrome M100 to the stable channel, we’ll turn off Lite mode, a Chrome feature for Android that we introduced back in 2014 as Chrome Data Saver to help people use less mobile data on their phones and load web pages faster," Craig, Chrome Support Manager, had earlier said in a statement.
