The Browser Company Releases Arc Search For Android, Here Are The Advantages

Arc Search has some advantages over traditional browsers like Chrome and Edge, particularly in managing open tabs.

The Browser Company has introduced the Arc Search app, designed to transform how users browse the internet by creating a new web page from scratch that offers customised search results. Still in its “Early Access” phase, the app features a tool called "Browse for me," where you can type in a search query, and it searches the web for relevant information on your behalf. Using AI, the app reads through multiple web pages and compiles the data into a newly generated page with different sections, offering users a unique browsing experience.

Though the app generally provides accurate results, there are some downsides. It may occasionally provide incorrect information, and users in areas with poor internet connectivity could experience delays in loading the new pages. Similar to the iPhone version, tapping on the search bar automatically opens the keyboard, though this feature can be turned off if preferred.

What Advantages Will Arc Search Bring?

Arc Search has some advantages over traditional browsers like Chrome and Edge, particularly in managing open tabs. It incorporates a recent-app style menu, similar to Android, which makes switching between tabs more efficient. Additionally, it offers an “Archive” feature that automatically saves inactive tabs after a set period, and users can pin websites for easy access, although AI-generated pages cannot be pinned.

The iPhone version of the app has already shifted from iCloud to a proprietary cross-platform syncing service, but the Android version currently lacks this syncing capability for pinned tabs and passwords. Other features, such as "pinch to summarize" and "Call to ask," are also not yet available on Android.
