iPhone 17 Pro Max To Feature Apple's Largest Battery Yet? Here's What The Latest Leak Suggests

iPhone 17 Pro Max appears to be shaping up not only as Apple’s most battery-heavy device to date but also its most robust performer.

Apple’s next flagship, the iPhone 17 Pro Max, is shaping up to be its most power-packed model yet. Forbes reports, based on source inputs, that it will feature Apple’s largest battery ever, paired with several enhancements aimed at improving performance and endurance.

Here’s a breakdown of what we know so far, based on credible leaks and historical trends.

5,000 mAh Battery for Extended Use

Leaked schematics and insider reports indicate the iPhone 17 Pro Max will come equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery, surpassing the 4,676 mAh cell in the iPhone 16 Pro Max. This increase translates to a roughly 10% capacity boost, likely enabling up to 35 hours of continuous video playback, compared to the current model’s 33-hour mark.

While battery endurance also depends on components and software, the larger cell is a clear step toward longer real-world use.

Slightly Thicker Design

To house this larger battery, Apple is expected to increase the phone’s thickness from 8.25mm to around 8.7mm, a subtle half-millimetre bump. Early engineering units show a thickness of 8.725mm.

Though marginal, this firm design choice reflects Apple's willingness to sacrifice minimal aesthetics in favour of significant battery gains.

A19 Pro Chip & Vapor-Chamber Cooling

Under the hood, the device is expected to feature Apple’s yet‑to-be‑launched A19 Pro chipset, likely built on a 3nm process, alongside 12 GB of RAM, up from 8 GB .

Another innovation may be the inclusion of a first‑ever vapour-chamber cooling system, designed to handle heat during high-stress tasks like gaming or video editing. If these leaks are accurate, Apple is serious about keeping performance smooth over prolonged use.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max appears to be shaping up not only as Apple’s most battery-heavy device to date but also its most robust performer. The larger battery, upgraded chip, and upgraded cooling collectively push the device toward extended, high-efficiency use. Anticipated to debut in mid‑September 2025, all signs point to a phone designed for endurance.
