Jallikattu: Second Death Reported After Spectator Gored To Death By Bull Near Tiruchy

All the more, over 40 persons including a constable attached to Armed Reserve Kasinathan suffered injuries during the event.

Chennai: A spectator was gored to death while 45 others including a constable suffered injuries during the Jallikattu event held at Navalurkuttapattu near Tiruchy. The deceased person was identified as B Vinod Kumar, a private company worker, from the same village. 

Vinod Kumar who was just a spectator walked out of his seat and stood near the bull collection point to have a closer look. However, he was gored to death suddenly by one of the bulls that was released from 'Vaadivasal', reports The Hindu 

The police rushed him to the hospital but he died on the way.

Meanwhile, over 40 persons including a constable attached to Armed Reserve Kasinathan suffered injuries to his right forehand. While he was standing as a guard, a bull bumped into him injuring his hand.

However, the medical team rushed and treated him along with other injured persons. Some of them who required additional treatment were taken to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Government Hospital, Tiruchy. 

Meanwhile, even after the government denied permission for Manju Virattu, cock fights and other traditional games due to the COVID surge, the games were still held. One person died in a Manju Virattu event held without permission in the Sivaganga district.

The deceased person was identified as Malaiswamy in Sivanganga GH. 

The incident took place just near the ground where Tamil Nadu Minister for Rural Development Periyakaruppan and the Sivanganga district Collector P Madhusudhanan and SP inaugurated the Jallikattu event. 

The farmers of the village despite the Jallikattu conducted a separate Manju Virattu event without the permission of the cops. 

The bulls were unleashed and they ran into the crowd. Many of them sustained injuries while a few escaped.
