Video Of Woman Claiming To Be LTTE Chief Prabhakaran's Daughter Surfaces Online

The video of a woman claiming to be Dwaraka was live-streamed by Tamils coordinating committee in the United Kingdom on Monday.

On the occasion of "Maveerar Naal," a Remembrance Day observed by Sri Lankan Tamils to honor the sacrifice of LTTE cadres, a video featuring a woman claiming to be the daughter of former LTTE chief Prabhakaran surfaced on social media. The woman, identifying herself as Dwaraka Prabhakaran, expressed her intention to reveal her identity to the world on this significant day. This video has sparked a debate within the Tamil community and foreign security agencies.

The video was live-streamed on Monday by Tamils coordinating committee in the United Kingdom.

In the video, disseminated on tamiloli.net and their YouTube channel, the woman delivered a speech lasting approximately 10 minutes. She was heard saying that she hopes to visit Eelam and serve her people, as reported by India Today.

However, the veracity of the video remains unconfirmed. There is a prevailing belief that Duwaraka died during the concluding stages of the civil war in the island nation.

Dwaraka was born as the second child of Prabhakaran in 1986. Despite her upbringing in Denmark by her maternal family, Dwaraka relocated to Jaffna with her mother following the departure of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) from Sri Lanka.

Meanwhile, 24 people were arrested by Sri Lankan security forces for not adhering to the ban and celebrating the 69th birth anniversary of LTTE supremo Prabhakaran on Monday.

At least 24 people were arrested by the security forces for defying the ban on celebrations, officials said. However, those arrested were later released after a warning, they added, as per PTI.

Residents in Vavuniya, Jaffna, Mannar, Mullaitivu, and Kilinochchi observed the day by lighting lamps at the graves of those who lost their lives in the conflict. At Jaffna University on Sunday, students marked the 69th birth anniversary of Prabakaran by cutting a cake. Likewise, a cohort of Tamil provincial politicians engaged in a cake-cutting ceremony opposite Prabhakaran's birthplace in Valvettithurai.
