AIADMK Single Leadership Row: OPS Moves EC Seeking Stay Over General Council Meet On July 11
AIADMK Single Leadership Row: OPS also said that he is not convinced with appointment of Tamilmagan Hussain as presidium chairman of the party and he did not give his acceptance for the appointment.
Chennai: AIADMK coordinator O Panneerselvam moved Election Commission seeking the constitutional body to stay AIADMK general council meeting scheduled on July 11, 2022. OPS moved the EC with the help of his lawyer Manoj Pandian on Friday.
According to a report on ABP Nadu, O Panneerselvam said, "Tamilmagan Hussain was selected as the presidium chairman of the party but as the coordinator, I am not convinced with the decision. I did not give acceptance for his appointment."
"As there's no post as the general secretary of the party, the post of coordinator and co-coordinator was created in the party. However, efforts are being taken again to remove the dual leadership against party bylaws and create the post of General Secretary," he said.

Against this backdrop, the general council meeting which should be announced by the coordinator and co-coordinators has also been announced by the presidium chairman of the party on July 11. Therefore, EC should issue orders to stay general council meeting, he said.

O Panneerselvam moved the EC during his visit to New Delhi over NDA Presidential candidate Draupadi Murmu filing the nominations on Friday. After attending the event, OPS and his son Raveendranath are expected to meet BJP president JP Nadda.
On Thursday, former AIADMK CM Edappadi K Palaniswami’s camp announced that all the 23 resolutions approved by OPS are rejected and they’ll pass the resolutions only after the party gets a single leader. They also scheduled the next general council meet on July 11, 2022 and said that they’ll also pass the resolution to appoint a single leader for the party.
