Infant Stolen From Mathura Railway Station Found At BJP Councillor's House, Accused Arrested

The councilor had allegedly bought this child from Hathras's child thief gang operator couple for one lakh 80 thousand rupees, said senior police officer.

New Delhi: A child stolen from the lap of a woman sleeping at Mathura railway station in Uttar Pradesh was recovered from the house of a BJP leader. Senior police officer said that the child was found in Firozabad at the house of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) woman councilor Vineeta Agrawal. He told that the councilor had allegedly bought this child from Hathras's child thief gang operator couple for one lakh 80 thousand rupees. 

"The arrested eight persons include two ANMs, a corporation of Firozabad Municipal Corporation, and her husband," SP Railways Mustaq Ahmad told reporters.

Mustaq said that on August 24, at 4.30 am, a seven-month-old baby was stolen from a woman sleeping on the platform of Mathura Junction under Vineeta, councilor of ward number 51 of Firozabad Municipal Corporation.

He told that Vineeta had bought this child for one lakh 80 thousand rupees from a medical couple of Hathras through a female health worker.

He told that regarding the theft of the child, his mother Radha Devi had lodged an FIR at the Government Railway Police Kotwali Mathura Junction. 

Mushtaq told that that day the woman had returned late in the night after mourning the passing of her sister's husband. After the night was over, the woman slept on the same platform, only then her child was stolen. The video of the incident was also captured on CCTV.

Mushtaq said that in the joint investigation of the Government Railway Police (GRP), Special Task Force (SOG) and surveillance team, it was found that a doctor couple in Hathras is running a gang of child stealing and selling. He told that many agents were also working for the couple.

He told that in this case, the gang's kingpin Dr. Prem Bihari and his wife Dr. Dayawati, resident of Sikandra Rao of Hathras, Firozabad Municipal Corporation councilor Vineeta Agrawal and her husband Krishna Murari Agrawal, who sold the child to both of them. Eight people, including Deep Kumar Sharma, who committed this crime, have been arrested.
