Lack Of Coordination Between GHMC And HMWSSB Led To Death of 11-Yr-Old: G Kishan Reddy

While commenting on the recent death of an 11-year-old girl in Secunderabad after being washed away through an uncovered drain in Kalasiguda, Reddy said that a lack of coordination between the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply & Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) led to the death of Mounika, reported The Hindu.

He met with the family of the deceased and expressed his condolences to them. While talking to the reporters, he criticised the functioning of the municipal corporation and its personnel for their apathy and negligence which results in tragedies, including this one, that could've been avoided.

He further said that the GHMC is financially broke and hasn't been paying contractors on time, which is causing delays in improving the stormwater drain network. “Despite getting an advance warning about heavy rains from the Met department, the municipal personnel have been found wanting and not being alert to deal with exigencies,” he lamented, as quoted by The Hindu.
