From Telangana To Ukraine: The Journey
The journey of four youngesters began innocently when they left for Dubai in search of employment opportunities, only to find themselves caught in a dangerous situation. While working in Dubai, they were misled by a false advertisement, promising lucrative security jobs on the Ukraine-Russia border. Tempted by the job offer, they applied, but the reality was far from what they had imagined.
Upon their application, the boys were reportedly taken to Ukraine, where they underwent rigorous military training for six months. During this time, they were trained to handle the most dangerous weapons, including grenades and drones. Initially believing they were part of a security detail, they soon realised they were being drawn into a much larger conspiracy involving the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
Once the men grasped the gravity of their situation, they promptly contacted the Indian Embassy. Recognizing the seriousness of their predicament, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar, with the support of Prime Minister Modi, arranged for their immediate evacuation to Delhi. From Delhi, they were flown to Shamshabad Airport in Hyderabad, where they were finally reunited with their families.
Their arrival at Shamshabad airport was an emotional moment. After months of worry, fear, and uncertainty, the families of the four boys were overwhelmed with relief and joy to see their loved ones safe.
Earlier, three men from Karnataka and a man from Telangana who were duped into fighting for Russian army in Ukraine appealed to the Centre to help them return to India.
