Bihar: NIA Raids 5 Places In Case Related To Naxal Terror Funding, Says Report

The raids were carried out in Bihar in the terror financing network being operated by CPI (Maoist) cadres.

New Delhi: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) carried out searches at five locations at multiple places in the Naxal terror funding case in Jehanabad, Gaya and Aurangabad districts of Bihar, as reported by news agency ANI. According to ANI, the raids were carried out in the terror financing network being operated by CPI (Maoist) cadres and overground workers in the Magadh region of the state for the revival of the Magadh zone of CPI (Maoist), a banned terrorist organization.

Earlier in the day, a joint team of security forces led by the CRPF uncovered a combination of explosives and ammo, including Chinese-made grenades and more than 350 bullets, during a continuous enemy of Naxal activity in Jharkhand, authorities said on Wednesday as reported by PTI.

The operation codenamed "Octopus" was sent off on September 4 by the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), its jungle warfare commando unit CoBRA and the special unit of the Jharkhand Police called "Jaguars" in the Budha Pahad hill area in Garhwa district.

A huge assortment of bombs, 38 Chinese grenades, 21 pressure cooker improvised explosive devices (IEDs), 358 self-loading rifle slugs, some measure of ammonium nitrate and other items used for dwelling in jungles have been recuperated by the joint security forces team, a senior CRPF official said.

Some development of the Naxals was additionally seen during the activity, he said.

The aim of the operation, the official expressed, is to make "inroads into the Maoist territory so that development projects can be initiated in these areas later."

In another incident, a self-styled commandant of banned Naxal outfit Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC) has been arrested in Jharkhand's Palamu region, police said on Monday.

Police grabbed Nirmal Bhuiyan when he came to Block Program Officer Meena Devi's home in Gongad town in Panki Police Station region on Sunday night to extort money.
