Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath dubbed Maharashtra's opposition bloc MVA as 'Maha Anadi' during a poll rally in Washim in the Vidarbha region on Wednesday. He also invoked Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to give the message of unity and reiterated his 'batiye mat' slogan.

"I am taking inspiration from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and appealing to you to not get divided (batiye mat) because whenever we were divided, we perished," he said, adding that the 17th-century Maratha warrior king's struggle was about the country's self-respect and pride. The BJP's star campaigner also urged people to vote for the ruling Mahayuti and defeat the "Maha Anadi coalition".

"I call those Maha Anadi who are not bothered about the country, religion, nationalism, values and principles of society and the nation. This work is being done by the Maha Anadi alliance," the chief minister said.

Earlier in the day, CM Adityanath addressed rallies in Jharkhand. Polling for the 288-member Maharashtra assembly will take place on November 20 and votes will be counted three days later. Elections in Jharkhand will be held in two phases on November 13 and 20.

CM Adityanath praised PM Narendra Modi for the construction of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. "When Ram Lalla was being installed in a grand temple (in Ayodhya), Prime Minister Narendra Modi had said this was just the beginning...Not only Ayodhya, we have moved ahead towards Kashi and Mathura," he said.
