Biker Crushed To Death By Speeding Bus In Ahmedabad, Incident Caught On Camera

The CCTV footage revealed the harrowing scene when the biker falls to the ground, with the bus's right rear tyre running over his head.

New Delhi: A motorcyclist was crushed to death by a bus, which sped away after the accident in Ahmedabad. The footage of the incident, which took place on April 19 at Bhulabhai crossroads, was captured on CCTV, that has now surfaced. The footage showed the victim, 52-year-old Navin Patel, trying to navigate the intersection on his motorcycle when an Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (ATMS) bus hit him.

The CCTV footage revealed the harrowing scene when Patel falls to the ground, with the bus's right rear tyre running over his head. In the video, it was seen that the bus driver did not stop and fled the scene. The man died on the spot.

Equally distressing is the lack of assistance from passersby, as not a single person stepped forward to help him. Despite the bustling intersection, the speed of passing vehicles momentarily slowed, yet bystanders carried on without intervening to help the accident victim.

The viral video of the incident has sparked debate on social media, prompting a critical examination of human empathy in moments of crisis. Many users have been expressing concern and questioning the lack of assistance provided to Patel as he lay injured on the road.

A user wrote, "What kind of dystopian hell is this country? Guy is in serious accident, each second is important and people are casually leaving as if nothing has happened".

"After the accident, shocked to see almost nobody stopped to help or check on him for sometime. People are kind of running away, what kind of society we are living in !! He might be dead on the spot, but as a human it’s our duty to stop and help", a user posted on X.

Another user blamed the biker, "Bike riders have no sense of stopping red lights or lane changing. Laws for them should be 10 times stricter".

Over the past decade, Ahmedabad has witnessed a concerning tally of road accidents involving Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service (AMTS) buses and private operators, totaling 7,283 incidents. Among these accidents, 116 casualties have been reported.
