Gujarat Businessman And Wife Donate All Their Belongings In A Procession In Sabarkantha—Watch

After formally pledging their commitment on April 22, the journey towards monkhood for the couple will entail a profound separation from all familial bonds, renunciation of material possessions.

New Delhi: Gujarat-based businessman Bhavesh Bhandari and his wife donated their lifetime earnings of over Rs 200 crore to adopt monkhood. The couple led a procession in Sabarkantha, Gujarat, on Monday as they donated all their belongings. They will officially commit to a life of renunciation at an event later this month. Videos capturing the procession depict the couple atop a chariot, adorned in regal attire, emblematic of their newfound spiritual journey embarked upon with grace and humility.

 

In a deeply symbolic gesture, the Bhandari couple, accompanied by 35 others, embarked on a poignant procession spanning four kilometers. Amidst the solemnity of the occasion, they relinquished all worldly possessions, including mobile phones and air conditioners. 

This Video grabbed the eyeballs as it got the mixed reactions from netizens. One user wrote, "Becoming monk with Gaza baaza ...photo shoots & what not. Buddha Sharnam gachami".

Another user wrote, "Throw the money and enjoy the scene".

Diksha' Entails Profound Dedication

The businessman from Himmatnagar who was in the construction business followed in the footsteps of his 19-year-old daughter and 16-year-old son who adopted monkhood in 2022. People from their community say that Bhavesh and his wife were inspired by their children to renounce their material attachments and join the ascetic path.

Notably, in Jainism, undergoing 'diksha' entails a profound dedication, wherein individuals forsake material luxuries and modern technologies, sustain themselves solely on alms, and traverse the nation barefoot, as per a report of India Today.
