7-Year-Old Boy Drowns While Playing In Waterlogged Park In Delhi's Rohini

Police said that a PCR call regarding the drowning of a child in Rohini was made around 6.30 pm on Saturday at Aman Vihar Police Station.

A seven-year-old boy drowned in a waterlogged park in the New Delhi Rohini area on Saturday, officials said. The incident unfolded on Saturday evening while the boy was playing in the park when he drowned in a pond formed due to rainwater in Sector-20 in Rohini. 

Police said that a PCR call regarding the drowning of a child in Rohini was made around 6.30 pm on Saturday at Aman Vihar Police Station.

A police team immediately reached the spot and were informed that the child had been rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. 

The preliminary investigation revealed that the child drowned in the park, which was waterlogged due to rain. The officer said the body has been sent for post-mortem and necessary action has been taken in the matter. 

Police are also scanning the CCTV camera footage to know the actual sequence of events, the officer added. 

Heavy rain lashed many parts of the national capital on Sunday afternoon, leading to waterlogging and traffic snarls in several areas as the weather office predicted more showers in the Delhi-NCR area in the evening.

The IMD has issued an ‘orange’ alert for the city that signifies ‘being prepared’ for extremely bad weather and potential disruptions to transport, rail and road. Central, south, southwest and east Delhi received heavy rainfall today as the latest weather alert from the weather department predicted more showers in the Delhi-NCR areas towards the end of the day. 

13-Year-Old Dies Of Electrocution

Meanwhile, a 13-year-old boy died of electrocution after he came in contact with an electric pole in the national capital, police said.

The incident happened in the Ranhola area while the boy was playing cricket. The Rahnola police station received a PCR call on Saturday at 1.27 pm regarding the death of the boy due to electrocution, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) (outer) Jimmy Chiram said.

The police team reached the spot and was informed that the boy was playing cricket in Kotla Vihar Phase-2, when he got electrocuted after he came in contact with an iron pole supplying electricity to a 'gaushala' (cowshed), DCP Chiram told PTI.
