Bihar Shocker! Cardboard Used As Makeshift Plaster On Fractured Leg. Video Goes Viral
A shocking case of medical negligence has emerged from Bihar's Muzaffarpur district, where a man's fractured leg was "treated" with a cupboard carton instead of a proper plaster cast.
A distressing instance of medical malpractice has emerged from the Muzaffarpur district of Bihar, where a man's fractured leg was bandaged with cardboard instead of a plaster cast. Nitish Kumar, who was injured in a motorcycle accident, was "treated" at a primary health care in the Manipur area of the state, as reported by NDTV on Thursday.
Here's What Exactly Happened
Kumar, who had sustained a leg injury after falling from his motorcycle, was taken to the primary health centre in Manipur. Instead of receiving a standard plaster cast, Kumar's leg was bandaged with a piece of cardboard, as per the report.
Following this, Kumar was transferred to Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur. Despite being admitted for five days, his family alleged that no doctor visited him to replace the makeshift splint with a plaster cast, the media report said.

Kumar recounted that he had travelled to Minapur on his motorcycle when the accident occurred, leaving his leg injured. At the health centre, medical staff tied his leg with the cardboard carton before he was sent to the hospital.
Hospital's Response
As per the NDTV report, Hospital Superintendent Vibha Kumar stated that the patient would receive proper treatment soon and that doctors had been instructed to attend to him. She mentioned that an investigation was underway to determine why the cardboard splint was not replaced with a plaster cast.
However, as per the report, Kumari denied any negligence on the part of Shree Krishna Medical College and Hospital, attributing the issue to the primary health care centre where the cardboard splint was initially applied.
Earlier in a shocking incident in October 2022, the staff at a government health facility in Madhya Pradesh's Rauna area, in Bhind district reportedly used cardboard instead of a plaster cast to dress the fractured leg of a man. Media reports said that the cardboard support was put up due to the unavailability of plaster cast at the health facility. MP medical education minister Vishvas Sarang later announced an investigation into the matter. The video of the incident went viral.
