Yogeshwar Dutt's Bronze in London Olympics 2012 to be upgraded to Gold: Sources

New Delhi: Wrestler Yogeshwar Dutt’s Bronze medal in 2012 London Olympics, might be upgraded to Gold, instead of Silver.    A few days back The Silver medalist in Men’s 60 Kg freestyle event at London Olympics, Besik Kudukhov tested positive in WADA’s (World Anti Doping Agency) dope tests. As a result, Yogeshwar stood a chance to bag Silver, as he was a Bronze medalist in the same event. Now, according to sources Yogeshwar may be up for something even bigger. According to sources, the Gold medalist in the same event, Azerbaijan's Toghrul Azgarov also tested positive in the recently conducted tests by WADA. WADA can test an athletes’ sample for up to 10 years from the date it had been collected. Recently the anti doping agency decided to re-test samples from the 2008 Beijing and 2012 London Olympics, which resulted in many athletes testing positive. Interestingly, Yogeshwar had announced that he does not want the Silver medal as the Russian Besik Kudukhov had died in a car accident in 2013 and he felt the deceased's family should be allowed to keep the medal. Due to bizarre turn of events now the Haryana grappler stands a chance to become the second ever Indian to bag an Olympic Gold in an individual event after Abhinav Bindra.
