Sania Mirza Confirms Her Retirement From Professional Tennis, Dubai WTA 1000 Will Be Her Last Tournament
Post-retirement, Mirza will be concentrating on her academics in Dubai, where she lives with her husband, former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik.
Sania Mirza Retirement: India’s legendary Tennis player Sania Mirza has confirmed her retirement from professional Tennis. She will officially retire at the WTA 1000 event in Dubai in February. Mirza talked to the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) website about her retirement.
“Honestly, the person that I am, I like to do things on my own terms. So I don’t want to be forced out by injury. So I have been training,” she told wtatennis.com
“I really don’t have the capacity in my mind to emotionally push that much anymore. I turned pro in 2003...Priorities change, and now my priority is not to push my body to the limit every single day," she said to WTA.

The former doubles World No. 1 champion has been struggling with a lingering calf injury and had earlier planned to retire after the end of the 2022 season but she got an elbow injury in August and was out of the US Open.
“For me it’s important to share my experience in the places that I live in, that’s why I have one in Hyderabad and one in Dubai,” she added.
Post-retirement, Mirza will be concentrating on her academics in Dubai, where she lives with her husband, former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik.
Mirza has won six Grand Slams. She has reached the summit of the WTA doubles ranking and is also the first Indian to break into the top 30 of the WTA singles ranking.
