Paris Paralympics 2024: Parveen Kumar valiant effort sees him finish eighth in the Men's Javelin Throw - F57 Final, as the Indian para athlete misses out on the medal by a significant margin. Yorkinben Odilov of Uzbekistan grabbed the Gold medal with an attempt of 50.32m, which is now an Asian Record.

At just 18 years old, Kumar had won a silver medal in the men's high jump T64 event at the 2020 Summer Paralympics, marking his first major medal since starting the sport in 2019. In October 2023, he continued his success by winning the men's high jump T64 at the 2022 Asian Para Games in Hangzhou, China, setting a new Games record with a jump of 2.02 meters.

Earlier today, para shooter Rubina Francis won a bronze medal in the Women's 10 meter Air Pistol SH1 event final, bringing India's total medal count to five. On Friday, India had already secured four medals: Avni Lekhara won gold and Mona Aggarwal claimed bronze in women's shooting, Manish Narwal earned silver in the Men's 10 meter air pistol event, and Preeti Pal took bronze in the women's 100 meter T-35 race.

11 athletes completed in the Men's Javelin Throw - F57 Final, and in the event, one athlete was throwing his 6 attempts in succession. India's Paveen Kumar was the last athlete to throw his attempts. After the 10 athletes were through with their attempts, it was the turn of the Indian athlete to have a go at glory.
