However, he sustained a muscle strain while training later in May and thus had to pull out of the FKK Games on June 4 at Hengelo (the Netherlands) and Paavo Nurmi Games in Turku, Finland on June 13 as a precautionary measure.

However, the good thing for Neeraj Chopra is that he did not miss any Diamond League competition during the time he was out due to injury. There were Rabat, Rome, Paris and Oslo legs of the League but those did not have Chopra's Javelin Throw category in their roster. Chopra is currently sitting on the top of the 2023 Diamond League men's javelin throw points tally with eight points and would look to maintain his lead in Lausanne. The 25-year-old had won the final in Zurich last year and is looking to successfully defend his title. Neeraj Chopra would face some stern competition as he would have the likes of Czech Republic’s Jakub Vadlejch competing along side him. At the Paavo Nurmi Games 2023 earlier this month which Chopra had missed, The Czech had registered a throw of 89.51m. Anderson Peters from Grenada, Germany’s Julian Weber and former Olympic champion Keshorn Walcott from Trinidad and Tobago will also be some of his competitors.
