WATCH: Entire Wankhede Stadium Sings 'Happy Birthday' As Sachin Tendulkar Cuts Cake During IPL 2023 MI vs PBKS Game
While Sachin Tendulkar would have hoped for a win for MI in this game, it did not turn out to be the case as PBKS came out on top by 13 runs.
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar will turn 50 on Monday. The Master Blaster, who is part of the Mumbai Indians support staff, was present at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday (April 22) during MI's home fixture against the Punjab Kings.
Tendulkar also cut a cake at the stadium ahead of his birthday with the Mumbai Indians contingent and in a video that is now going viral on social media, the entire stadium could be seen singing 'Happy Birthday' for the cricketer who is often called the "God Of Cricket" in this part of the world.
The clip was shared by the official social media handle of IPL. "A special birthday celebration 😃 When the entire Wankhede Stadium collectively wished Happy Birthday to the legendary @sachin_rt 🎂👏 #TATAIPL | #MIvPBKS," the post was captioned.

While Sachin would have hoped for a win for MI in this game, it did not turn out to be the case as PBKS came out on top by 13 runs. PBKS batted first and scored 214/8. In the run chase, Mumbai looked set for a win when Suryakumar Yadav was batting but after he departed for 57 off 26 balls, PBKS held on to their nerve to clinch a win. The home team needed 16 off final 6 balls but Arshdeep Singh picked 2 wickets and conceded just 2 runs in a superb final over.
It would be a day to forget for the Tendulkar household also because Sachin's son Arjun Tendulkar created an unwanted record, bowling the joint-most expensive over, conceding 31 runs off his third to end with figures of 1 for 48 from his 3.
MI will now be up against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on April 25 (Tuesday). Meanwhile, PBKS will take on Lucknow Super Giants in their next match on April 28 (Friday).
