IPL 2023 | Watch: Virat Kohli Leads Dressing Room Celebrations After RCB's Big Win Over MI

RCB's Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis slammed twin fifties to help their team register their maiden win in IPL 2023 with as many as 22 balls to spare.

RCB in IPL 2023: Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), yet to win their first final in Indian Premier League (IPL) history, made a dream start to their IPL 2023 campaign as their star batters Virat Kohli (82 not out off 49 balls) and Faf du Plessis (73 off 43 balls) produced a remarkable chasing master-class by stitching a solid 148-run opening partnership to attain an emphatic 8-wicket win over five-time IPL winners Mumbai Indians (MI). Chasing a competitive 172-run target for the win, Virat Kohli and captain Faf du Plessis slammed twin fifties as RCB registered their maiden win of the year with as many as 22 balls to spare.

Meanwhile, a video went viral on social media in which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) support staff and players could be seen engaging in a funny dance to celebrate their team's big win over Mumbai. At one point during the celebration, RCB captain Faf du Plessis even lifted Virat.

After his team's clinical win over MI, RCB legend Virat Kohli hoped that the team maintains momentum by not losing focus and executing things properly.

"Phenomenal win. Homecoming after so many years. Credit to their batters for getting to that score. Tilak (Varma) batted well. We kept backing ourselves. Faf went first, and I joined later. I am very happy with how things went today," said Kohli after the match as per PTI.

"Apart from Mumbai winning five times and Chennai four times, we have qualified the most number of times, so we do play consistent cricket. It's just about staying focused, and just try to be the best balanced team. We need to play on this momentum. We just need to execute better." Mohammed Siraj set the tone with figures of 3-0-5-1 after three overs to leave MI at 20 for three in 5.2 overs.

"The new ball was a bit tricky, but we shifted the momentum by taking them down with the new ball. We nullified all their intensity. The wicket was quite a nice one. We hit good areas and kept putting pressure on the bowlers," Kohli said.

Brief Scores

Mumbai Indians: 171 for 7 in 20 overs (Tilak Varma 84 not out; Karn Sharma 2/32).

Royal Challengers Bangalore: 172 for 2 in 16.2 overs (Virat Kohli 82 not out, Faf du Plessis 73; Arshad Khan 1/28).
