MI vs SRH, IPL 2020: Krunal Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah Inspire Mumbai Indians To A Convincing 34-Run Win Over Sunrisers Hyderabad
Mumbai vs Hyderabad, IPL 2020 UAE Match Today: While Mumbai Indians batters led from the front by scoring a mammoth first innings total, their bowlers proved why they are one of the best bowling unit in the tournament.
Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad convincingly by 34 runs in today's game on the ongoing season of IPL 2020 in Sharjah cricket stadium on Sunday. While Mumbai Indians batters led from the front by scoring a mammoth first innings total, their bowlers proved why they are one of the best bowling unit in the tournament.
For Sunrisers, Jonny Bairstow and David Warner made their way to the crease. Bairstow made a great start to their innings as he danced down the track to hit a six off the very first over and open his account. Probably, he was ensuring that his team gets a powerful start given the inexperience down the batting order.
James Pattinson who shared the new ball with Boult proved to be expensive as he conceded 12 runs in his first over. The third over was given to Krunal, but he was too punished by Bairstow who displayed his raw power to hit a huge six off his over.
The Sunrisers were racing away in the chase but Pattinson in his second over bowled three back-to-back dot deliveries to put Warner under pressure. The SRH opener almost got out after he skied one but the ball landed in no man's land.
In the fourth over, Trent Boult bowled a slower delivery and Jonny Bairstow went big but lacked power in his shot to find Hardik Pandya in the deep. Manish Pandey, next man in,got his innings started with a lofted straight drive and even hit the next ball for four for consecutive boundaries.
Jasprit Bumrah was welcomed by Warner with back-to-back fours as he put the pressure straightaway on the Mumbai speedster. At the end of powerplay, Sunrisers reached 56 for loss of one wicket, their highest powerplay score in IPL 2020.
Manish Pandey got lucky like Warner after Hardik Pandya dropped an easy catch on the fence. Sunrisers looks in complete control of the chase after the end of nine overs with Pandey doing well and Warner starting to fire big time. MI had to defend 122 runs in the last 11 overs.
Just when it seemed Pandey would bat till the end, Pattinson got the big breakthrough for the Men in Gold by departing Manish Pandey who didn't get the distance and end up giving a catch to Pollard. Half-way through the chase, Warner was joined by Kane Williamson in the middle.
David Warner scored his first IPL fifty of this season but soon after that Boult dismissed his Kiwi skipper for just three runs. Kane Williamson guided a slower ball from Trent Boult straight to keeper Quinton de Kock; with this Boult got his second wicket and provided the key wicket for Mumbai.
Chahar's stunner -- a well composed catch -- at the boundary ropes sent Garg back for eight. 70 runs were needed of the final five overs with Abhishek Sharma and David Warner on the crease.
A top innings from the skipper came to an end after Ishan Kishan bagged a stunner at short third man. Abdul joined Sharma in the middle and relieved some pressure with a four and a six with 51 runs needed off 18 balls. After getting hit for a six first-ball, Jasprit Bumrah bounced with the wicket of Abdul Samad and departed him for 20.
Mumbai Indians were now on the brink of the victory. Kieron Pollard bowled the last over and gave away just two runs in the last over.
