'IPL 2024 Is MS Dhoni's Last Season': Ravi Shastri Makes Bold Claim. WATCH

Cricketer-turned-commentator Ravi Shastri suggested that the ongoing IPL 2024 season could potentially mark the conclusion of MS Dhoni's illustrious career in the tournament.

MS Dhoni in IPL 2024: Former Indian cricketer and head coach Ravi Shastri has stirred speculation about the future of Chennai Super Kings (CSK) stalwart MS Dhoni in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Shastri has suggested that the ongoing IPL 2024 season could potentially mark the conclusion of the 42-year-old's illustrious career in the tournament.

MS Dhoni, five-time Indian Premier League (IPL) winner, will be donning the keeping return gloves today when defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squares off against Delhi Capitals (DC) in DC vs CSK IPL 2024 match at the ACA-VDCA Stadium in Visakhapatnam on Sunday (March 31).

"This is MS Dhoni’s last season okay, very clear. You know, it depends on how his body copes with everything, whether he plays the whole season or doesn’t play the whole season, only time will tell." Ravi Shastri said via Star Sports.

MS Dhoni, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) icon, is yet to make an appearance with the bat in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season. Despite featuring in two matches for Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Dhoni hasn't had the opportunity to showcase his hard-hitting skills.

Ravi Shastri's take on why MS Dhoni handed over CSK's captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad in IPL 2024

"But what he has done is that he said, I [MS Dhoni] don’t want to give the job to Ruturaj halfway through the tournament. Be in the hot seat from the outside, I am watching from the back, if he needs some help I’m there to help him out. But I [Shastri] think as compared to the year when Jadeja was captain, MS will take more and more of the backseat and probably contribute just in a little way between the drinks break or something like that," Shastri added.

"He’ll give him the freedom, I see him giving him the freedom to go and express himself and if he needs to be corrected then you know." Shastri concluded.
