LSG vs MI, Match Highlights: Marcus Stoinis' Unbeaten 89 Sets Up Lucknow's 5-Run Win Over Mumbai

LSG vs MI, Match Highlights: Both teams are still alive in the race to the Playoffs with LSG having just edged MI with one extra point.

Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) in a last-over thriller at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on Tuesday to get to 15 points with one to go in the league stage. After being asked to bat first, LSG posted 177/3 in their 20 overs riding on Marcus Stoinis sensational 89 off 47 deliveries, an inninsg which was studded with 4 fours and 8 sixes. In response, MI started off on the frontfoot with Rohit Sharma (37 off 25) and Ishan Kishan (59 off 39) helping the team off to a flying start. However, wickets fell in the middle overs with MI losing 5 wickets for less than 50 runs including the in form Suyrakumar Yadav which slowed the run rate down as LSG found a way to come back into the game and eventually held on to a 5-run win.

It was thrilling finish to the game as Mumbai had two clean hitters of the cricket ball towards the backend of the run chase. The chasing side needed 39 to win off 3 overs with Tim David (32* off 19) and Cameron Green (4* off 6) out in the middle. However, Mohsin Khan delivered two superb overs under pressure to seal the game for his side. With 11 needed of the final 6 balls, Khan conceded just 5 as LSG clinched two crucial points to get to 15 points from 13 matches.

Earlier, Jason Behrendorff (2/30) and Piyush Chawla (1/26) had helped MI get off to a good start with the ball as well but in the end Chris Jordan conceded 24 off one over, all of which came from the bat of Stoinis while Behrendorff too went for a few which turned out to be the difference between both the sides. Other than Stoinis, captain Krunal Pandya made 49 before getting retired hurt. He, however, did come back to bowl his 4 overs for 27 runs.

For LSG, Khan finished with figures of 1 for 26 from 3 overs while Ravi Bishnoi was the stand-out performer with the ball scalping 2 wickets for 26. Yash Thakur was the other bowler amongst the wickets for Lucknow but was a bit expensive, going for 40 in his 4 overs.
