IPL 2021: Virat Kohli Deems RCB's Defeat Against CSK As 'Unacceptable', Says 'We Gave It All Away'

RCB Vs CSK: The sudden collapse in the batting after the openers got out and also the lack of vigour in the bowling in the second innings were the prime examples of why the RCB failed against CSK.

IPL 2021, RCB Vs CSK: The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) vs Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) match ended with a win for the boys from Chennai. RCB lost the match despite getting a good start at the top of the order by Virat Kohli and Devdutt Padikkal. Kohli's men were 90/0 after 10 overs but only managed 156 runs at the end of 20 overs, meaning only 66 runs were scored in the death overs.

Kohli, in his post-match press conference, was not happy with the performance of his team. He felt that the RCB gave away too many boundary deliveries.

The match at Sharjah Cricket Stadium was won by CSK by six wickets with almost two overs to spare, thus, it was a simple chase for Dhoni's men. The sudden collapse in the batting after the openers got out and also the lack of vigour in the bowling in the second innings were the prime examples of why the RCB failed against CSK.

"We could've got 175, that could've been a winning total. The pitch had a lot to offer but our bowlers could not make use. They got away with too many boundary opportunities," said Kohli.

"They bowled well in their back end and executed the yorkers when needed. It was difficult for us to get elevation, and only bad balls could be put away. We then gave too many boundary balls. We spoke of areas we didn't want them to hit, but we couldn't do that."

"The X-Factor was missing in the first five overs with the ball. But it's very important to execute balls during the crunch moments. Those few moments... that's what we failed to capitalize on," Kohli added.

Kohli understands the importance of a victory here to seal, not just a play off place, but also the number or two of the points table. "We need to get on a winning run again. This game is more disappointing than the first one. We were on top and then gave it all away... That is not acceptable to us as a team," said the RCB captain.

This was RCB's second loss in a row since the beginning of IPL's phase 2. They will next play five-time champions Mumbai Indians who themselves are coming off two straight defeats.
