IPL 2021: Delhi Capitals Win By Six Wickets To Defeat Punjab Kings; KL Rahul Loses On Birthday | Match Summary
Shikhar Dhawan was the architect of the chase for Delhi Capitals in the Match-11 of the IPL 2021. Read the Summary of DC vs PBKS below.
IPL 2021, DC Vs PBKS: Delhi Capitals won the match by chasing 196 in 18.2 overs. Shikhar Dhawan scored a brilliant 92 in just 49 balls. His innings were a picture–perfect T20 innings. He did not take a lot of risks and also made sure that the run rate did not go down. He was adjudged the Man of the Match for his performance. This run-chase was the second-highest at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
Earlier in the match, Punjab Kings managed to score 195 runs, courtesy of two good innings by KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal. But the lower order batsmen did not support the cause of PBKS and didn’t manage a lot of runs. Eventually, PBKS were about 15-20 runs short of where they could have been.
The chase was like one-way traffic where DC dominated proceedings throughout the 18.2 overs. Dhawan scored 92, while the finishing touches were given by Stoinis and Lalit Yadav.
After the win, DC climbed up to second place ahead of Mumbai Indians.
Let’s see what the captains had to say after the match:
KL Rahul: “Victory (on birthday) would have been sweet, so it's slightly disappointing. But we have a lot of games, so hopefully, we come back stronger and win few games. Right now it looks 10-15 runs short, but I think 190-odd looked good. I and Mayank thought 180-190 would have been great on this wicket.”
Rishabh Pant: “Coming from a loss, winning the next match was important. Have already started enjoying captaincy. But we were under pressure at the start, the wicket was not doing much. Bowlers did a good job keeping them to 190. He (Dhawan) has a lot of experience. You can to talk to him about anything, how we can set the field, there are many stuff you can talk about.”
