Almost every major record of T20 cricket has been attained by 'Universe Boss' Chris Gayle. The flamboyant batsman is also a dangerous batsman when it comes to playing ODIs and Tests. Gayle is 41-years-old but still is considered one of the best in the business.

Therefore, even after seeing him bat for so many years, fans still eagerly wait for 'Universe Boss' to get out on the field and strike the ball for fours and sixes. Against Kolkata Knight Riders on Monday, Gayle played a stormy innings of 51 runs off just 29 balls to give Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) their fifth consecutive win in the tournament. After the match, Gayle talked about his retirement plan. He said that at the moment he is not thinking about retirement from cricket.

Reacting to his statement, Gayle laughed and responded by saying: Today the coach asked the senior players, we need to step up in crucial games, I am glad we were able to put my hand up. And the youngsters in the team are telling me, ‘Don’t retire'.

Chris Gayle has been playing cricket continuously for 21 years. In 1999, he made his international debut against India. During the ODI series against India in August last year, Gayle felt that he was retiring at the Port of Spain ground. He was given a jersey of number 301. But later he himself announced that he is not retiring.

Gayle plays T20 leagues around the world. He has scored more than 7 thousand runs in 103 Tests which includes 15 centuries. Gayle has scored 10480 runs in 301 ODIs, which included 25 centuries.

Speaking on his batting performance, Gayle said: “Been training off the field when not playing. Doing my runs. Gym. Feeling good. Have a good feeling about myself and the team. Just capitalising on it, but still a long way to go.”

He further added: “We had two very good spinners, we had to make a quick adjustment. Quickly assess what they were doing. And once you get going, you ease the pressure off Mandeep as well. Sunil has got me out so many times. He is the best spinner in the world. So when you get a wicket like this, when it is not turning much, you got to cash in.”

KXIP star batsman Chris Gayle has scored 13475 runs in T20s. He has scored the maximum 22 centuries in this format. Gayle also holds the record for scoring the most 175 runs in a T20 innings. Apart from this, he has hit the most 993 sixes in T20 cricket. Kings XI Punjab will next play against Rajasthan Royals on Friday.
