Delhi Capitals Assistant Physiotherapist has tested positive for Coronavirus. The franchise has confirmed that he was yet to meet with, and had not been in contact with any players or staff of the franchise. Delhi Capitals confirmed that he returned two negative Covid-19 tests on arrival in Dubai and was in his mandatory quarantine, where a third test came back as positive. He was isolated immediately, and is currently at the IPL Isolation Facility in Dubai for the next 14 days, at the end of which he will have to produce two negative reports for him to be able to join the Delhi Capitals squad. The franchise's medical team is in constant touch with him.
The development comes on a day when the BCCI released the complete schedule for IPL 2020. As per the schedule, MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will face defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) in the tournament opener. In the second game of the tournament, Kings XI Punjab will lock horns with Delhi Capitals on September 20.
Earlier, two players and 12 staff members of Chennai Super Kings had tested positive for the dreaded coronavirus.
Not only that, UAE witnessing a steady rise in the number of Covid-19 cases has become a reason of worry for all eight teams participating in the tournament and that's why BCCI boss Sourav Ganguly is visiting Dubai on September 8 to make sure that all SOPs are being followed by the players and support staff of all eight franchises during the 53-day tournament.
