Delhi Capitals Skipper David Warner Fined Heavily After IPL 2023 Match Vs SRH. Know Details

IPL aims to finish matches in three hours and 20 minutes, but slow over-rates are becoming an issue, with most matches stretching over four hours.

David Warner fined: Delhi Capitals defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by seven runs in 34th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 on Monday (April 25). This was Delhi's second win of the ongoing season. Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals captain David Warner was fined Rs 12 Lakh for slow over-rate during his teams' recently-concluded IPL 2023 match against Sunrisers Hyderabad. IPL aims to finish matches in three hours and 20 minutes, but slow over-rates are becoming an issue, with most matches stretching over four hours.

"As it was his team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Warner was fined Rs. 12 lakh," IPL said in a statement on Tuesday.

Talking about the match, Delhi won the toss and decided to bat first, scoring 144 runs for nine wickets. In reply, Sunrisers Hyderabad managed to get 137 runs for six wickets in 20 overs. For Delhi, Axar Patel took two wickets for 21 runs in his four overs and Kuldeep Yadav picked one wicket for 22 runs in his four overs. Delhi Capitals defended such a low score for the first time in Indian Premier League history.

This was Delhi Capitals' second win in 7 matches in IPL 2023 so far. The team led by David Warner remains at the bottom 10th position in the IPL 2023 points table. After losing to Delhi, Sunrisers Hyderabad suffered their fifth defeat in seven matches and remains at the 9th position in IPL 2023 points standings. Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad will square off against one another on Saturday. The match between the two teams will now be played at the Arun Jaitley Cricket Stadium in Delhi.
