IPL 2020 Qualifier 2, DC vs SRH: Delhi Capitals Beat Sunrisers Hyderabad By 17 Runs To Secure A Historic Final Berth

IPL 2020 Qualifier 2, Delhi vs Hyderabad in UAE: Kagiso Rabada struck in his very first over to clean up David Warner for just 2 in the second over, Stoinis struck twice in his first over to remove Priyam Garg (17) and Manish Pandey (21) to deliver double-blow to Hyderabad and rattle them in the chase.

After a heroic 50-ball 78 from Shikhar Dhawan, Delhi Capitals bowlers Kagiso Rabada (4/29) and Marus Stoinis (3/26) bowled remarkably well to power Delhi Capitals to a 17-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday at Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, and secure a maiden final appearance in IPL. DC will now face Mumbai Indians in the final that'll be played on 10th Nov, at Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Chasing a target of 190, SRH were limited to 172/8 in their 20 overs. Kagiso Rabada struck in his very first over to clean up David Warner for just 2 in the second over, Stoinis struck twice in his first over to remove Priyam Garg (17) and Manish Pandey (21) to deliver double-blow to Hyderabad and rattle them in the chase. After this, Williamson not only notched a heroic fifty but also added fifty plus partnership with Abdul Samad (16-ball 33) to keep Sunrisers Hyderabad in the game but he fell for 67 runs. Openers David Warner and Priyam Garg came out in the middle with Sunrisers chasing 190 to make it to the finals. The onus lied on skipper Warner to give his team a fiery start but DC lethal speedster Kagiso Rabada castled David Warner with his first ball to send him back to the pavilion for just 2 runs in the second over. First, he almost nailed a yorker to clean up Priyam Garg (12-ball 17) for and then he got his second wicket off the over by departing Manish Pandey (21), who looked to up the ante but mistimed the shot and holed to mid-on. In the final over of the powerplay, Holder joined Kane Williamson in the middle. After losing quick wickets, Kane and Jason batted cautiously and were going about the chase in similar fashion like they did in the last game. On the other hand, skipper Iyer introduced spinners Pravin Dube and Axar Patel from both ends and they did pretty well to restrict them. The required run-rate went past 11 and the pressure was on, on both Kane and Holder. At halfway through the chase SRH were 75/3. While Kane Williamson got into the act by changing gears to hit sixes and fours, his partner Holder mistimed a shot and holed out to long-on as Axar Patel broke the crucial 46-run partnership. Kane Williamson scored yet another fifty off 35 balls, his 15th in IPL to keep his team alive in the chase. Abdul Samad, the new man in, took the attack straight to DC bowlers and smashed fours and sixes to get some pressure off from lone-wolf Kane. Brief scores: DC 189/3 in 20 overs (Shikhar Dhawan 78, Shimron Hetmyer 42 not out; Rashid Khan 1/26) vs SRH 172/8 in 20 overs (Kane Williamson 62, Abdul Samad 33; Kagiso Rabada 4/29) After winning the toss, Delhi Capitals surprised everyone by going against the trend as they decided to bat first on a pitch where team that have decided to chase have been more successful. The brand new opening combination of Marcus Stoinis (27-ball 38) and Shikhar Dhawan (50-ball 78) came out all guns blazing to stitch a solid 86-run partnership that helped Delhi Capitals get off to a flying start and post 189/3 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Sunday at the Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Stonis was dropped on 3 and he made DC pay for it. Star leggie Rashid Khan got rid of him but Dhawan continued to carry on and converted his brisk start to a fifty. The DC star opener also completed 600 runs in IPL 2020 after KXIP skipper KL Rahul.
