IPL 2022 Mega Auction: Deepak Chahar Becomes Chennai Super Kings' Most Expensive Buy Ever In IPL Auction History

Deepak Chahar has been with CSK since 2018 and ever since then he has been a key bowler for the franchise as he played an important role in making the team champions in 2018 and 2021. 

IPL 2022 mega auction news: Indian cricket team's star player Deepak Chahar was retained by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in IPL 2022 auction for a record-breaking bid. MS Dhoni-led franchise spent a mind boggling INR 14 crore to retain Chahar in their squad. With this, Chahar has now become Chennai Super Kings' most expensive buy ever in IPL auction history. Overall, Chahar is now also the third joint-most expensive Indian buy in IPL auction history along with Yuvraj Singh.

In the 2018 IPL auction, CSK had bagged Chahar for Rs 80 lakh. The young bowler,  who plays for Rajasthan in domestic cricket, had entered the auction with a base price of Rs 2 crore.

So far in the IPL, Chahar has played for Rajasthan Royals, Rising Pune Supergiant and Chennai Super Kings. He has been with CSK since 2018 and ever since then he has been a key bowler for the franchise as he played an important role in making the team champions in 2018 and 2021. 

List of four players bought by Chennai Super Kings in IPL Mega Auction 2022 so far:

Robin Uthappa (2 cr)
Dwayne Bravo (4.4 cr)
Ambati Rayudu (6.75 cr)
Deepak Chahar (14 cr)

Interestingly, all four of them played for CSK in IPL 2021!

Chahar has played 63 IPL games so far in his carrer off which he has bagged 59 wickets with an economy of 7.8. The star bowler also has the ability to score runs quickly in the lower order. For India too, Deepak has done pretty well in T20 cricket. He has taken 23 wickets off 17 matches with career best figures of six wickets for seven runs.
