On Friday, Jhulan was named in the Indian squad for the upcoming ODI series against England. Team management rested her after the 2022 ODI World Cup and she even missed the ODI series against Sri Lanka and subsequently the T20 tournament in Commonwealth Games 2022. The veteran bowler last played an international match for India during the ODI World Cup in New Zealand in March this year. She has not played T20Is since 2018 and played her last Test match in October 2021.

According to the Indian Express, BCCI wants to give legendary pacer Jhulan Goswami a "proper farewell' for her services to Indian cricket for over 20 years as she ends her illustrious career at Home of Cricket, Lord's. The report also stated that the board had made it clear to Jhulan about the Indian women's team looking in a different direction and having moved on from her.

Jhulan Goswami will end her cricketing career as the highest wicket-taker for the 'Women in Blue' in women's cricket across all formats. She currently has 352 wickets in all three formats. Earlier this year, Jhulan's longtime teammate Mithali Raj announced her retirement from international cricket. The tour of England will start with the T20 series on September 10, while the ODI series will be played from September 18.
